Fast Humor

So I'm not sure about you guys, but I've always been a fan of when fast food chains decide to be humorous. I don't want them to be inspirational, like say:

No, screw that. I go there to get a burger, not to fly a kite with my multicultural team of imagined inspiration and togetherness. That's why I like Burger King's old "Have it your way" campaign, where they just put a bunch of random stuff on all of their containers. Remember that? Here's a refresher, a sticker they put on their doors:

Well to my delight, I was at taco bell a while back, and I got this one jumbo XXL something something box deal. And after consuming most of my meal, I was examining the box and found this little gem on the bottom:

Why don't more places do this?

Thanksgiving Pizza Shenanigans

So, it might turn out that I'm the only one who had leftovers from thanksgiving. Will Steve-O or Umi swoop in to save the day? Or will Tom, in a cunning move, rescind what he said in a previous comment and fabricate fake thanksgiving leftovers onto a pizza? Only time will tell.

In any case, I sorta cut corners on this. Instead of making the pizza, I bought a Little Caesar's pizza. And I only used a slice instead of the entire thing for these shenanigans.

So yeah, here's the slice I used, the biggest of the bunch. Lets add some turkey and ham.

And what would thanksgiving be without a little bit of stuffing?

Was out of potatoes, so this'll have to do... or will it? I've still got some gravy.

...and some cranberry sauce.

...aaaaaaaaaand a slice of pumpkin pie with whipped cream.

There, I think my masterpiece/monstrosity is complete. Lets try it out.

Nom nom. It actually tasted pretty good. The gravy and the stuffing made all the difference. Unfortunately, the pumpkin pie fell off shortly thereafter. But I continued to eat it.

Well, I guess I've punished my body enough today. Time to eat the rest of this pizza regular.

YNTD!

Since most of us are probably of the drinking age, I thought it might be appropriate to do something beverage related. There's a site out there called the Drunken Moogle, which is devoted to video game inspired drinks and drinking shenanigans. It's got some really neat ones, such as the Metroid and The Drink is a Lie.

So it got me thinking... could I make a video game inspired drink? I went onto my favorite MMO and asked a few of my buddies on there. The conversation went like this:

Them: Ok so what alcohol do you have?
Me: Uhh... whiskey.
Them: Alright got any ice?
Me: I don't at the moment... but wait!

I looked in the freezer and I had... popsicles. So I present to you my drink--

The Whiskey Popsicle! It's uhh... whiskey + a popsicle. Inspired by my friends online, so -technically- it was video game inspired I guess? Overall I guess it was ok, I let the popsicle cool it down and mix with it for a new flavor... kinda...

...

Don't try this, it was kinda nasty.

Cinco de No Contest

WELL... Taco Del Mar in Pullman didn't have the Cinco de Mayo 5 pound burrito challenge because somebody got sick last year. Thanks random person for ruining my chances this year! Here's a picture of me looking sad-faced that I could only get a REGULAR mondo burrito instead of the Cinco de Mayo one.

So instead, since I didn't want to break the bank -too- badly, I got 2 mondo burritos instead. Ate them both no problem.

But then I got home and looked up the Mondo Burrito, and it turns out those are only 24 oz apiece. So I ate only about 5/8ths of what a giant burrito would have been. I would have needed to eat 3.3333333333333333 burritos to match you guys. I'm thinking I could have managed the .333333333333333 part, but if I had to eat a whole other burrito, I may not have come out victorious. BUT I guess we shall never know... this year.

What's better than beer and bread combined?

Iunno.

In any case, we made beer bread 'cause we were bored. Recipe was pretty simple - 6 cups of flour, 6 tbsp baking powder, 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tsp salt, 1 c butter, and a 22oz bottle of beer. (We used a Red Hook ESB I think). The reason it uses beer is a substitute for the yeast as a rising agent, and because someone thought it would be a good idea to put their beer in the batter. In any case, mix all together, bake for 30-45 mins in bread pan(s) at 375F, and eat fresh. Tastes almost like biscuits, would be good with jam or honey, or maybe even more butter!

In any case, delicious. It's simple, foolproof, and delicious.

Turbaconducken

Hey look, Matt is on a major news site! Since when has Bacon Today been considered major news? Since bacon has been delicious, that's when. Why didn't I post about it sooner? I was too lazy.

Alright, so here's the deal. John Madden comes up with the Turducken, which is a chicken wrapped in a duck wrapped in a turkey. Someone on the internet comes up with the Turbackonducken, which is a chicken wrapped in bacon wrapped in a duck wrapped in bacon wrapped in a turkey wrapped in bacon. And thus my friend went out of his way to make one.

It was delicious, by the way. Bacon is, after all, meat candy.
