Pdrepper's Twitter page is full of shameless self advertising and bad grammar

This is kinda sad. I thought I'd give our old friend Pdrepper some attention, so I did a Google search for Dr. Pepper. To my dismay, every single article that popped up omitted the obviously necessary but always-omitted period. To further weaken my resolve, I found the twitter page. It's pretty uninspiring.

Now, if you wanna do an advertising campaign on Twitter or YouTube, you've gotta do it right. The only people I've seen really do this right lately is Old Spice. It's probably the most internet-based ad campaign I've ever seen, and likely the most hilarious. They got Isaiah Mustafa to make 200 YouTube videos in 2 days responding to tweets and other things on the internet. In case you haven't seen them, check it.

Back on topic though, I do have some good news! Doing a Google search for Pdrepper results in YNTE being the top website result. Suck it, internet!

Dr Awesomepage

I was going to make a blog post, out of fairness, chastizing Pibb Xtra for also being incorrect. (It's spelled with an "E", dorks) However, while googling for a picture to go with this article, I found this site:

http://www.minerva.unito.it/Chimica&industria/Dizionario/Supplementi02/AziendeAlimentari/cocacola3.htm

This is the single best collection of pdrepper and other similiar "doctor" sodas I have ever seen. And it is appalling how many of them are misspelled or improperly punctuated. Get with the program, soda makers! America* only wants to drink properly punctuated soda!

It's in Italian so I have NO IDEA what it says. If you speak Italian and the site insults your mother, I'm sorry for linking to it.

*Disclaimer: By "America", I pretty much just mean nerds in America. And often not even them.

Fun with Maps Part 2

Two posts in one day? Not so lame any more!

This map plots out the most frequently used name for generic soft drinks, be it "pop", "soda", or "coke". I find this map hilarious because of its dead on accuracy.

And now... THE GRAND REVELATION!

The moment you have all been waiting for is now here:

Tom, your free pdrepper expired February 28th! It is now March 1st! IN YOUR FACE!

The Dr didn't deliver after all, now did he?

I promise next time there is a grand revelation, it'll actually be something important. Or will it?

Fixed

Wordle: You Need to Eat 2

Thanks Tom. I think this is much more accurate. Although Common words were omitted, so I fixed it again.

Wordle: You Need To Eat 3

Also, on the first one a few posts below, I noticed Mountain Doogie. I think the should be the official soda of Neil Patrick Harris.

Edit: didn't notice Evan's in the comments in the previous post. Might as well post it as well, 'cause it wins.

Wordle: YNTE

If you really want it on a shirt, Evan, I'm sure cafepress could oblige >_> Or propose it in the school district's budget to get you guys Webdev/YNTE shirts, or make someone get it for you for May 12, or threaten someone to make one for you for free... you've got options, man.

Random Thoughts

First of all, this is POST #5 for February. February Accomplished. February Over-Accomplished. You all need to slow down with the content if we want to keep pace for the rest of the year.

Second of all, I stand by my assertion that it's "Pdrepper". And now I'm bringing evidence:
That is a segment of the Gutenberg Bible, the first ever printed book. My latin isn't great, but I'm pretty sure that "Quid" is a latin word and "Qrum" is a made up word. The precident is set, way back to the earliest days of printed text, that when a letter is so big it takes up two lines, it goes with the letters on the first line, not second.

Also, from the wikipedia page on "Dr Pepper":

The period (fullstop) after "Dr" was discarded for stylistic and legibility reasons in the 1950s. Dr Pepper's logo was redesigned and the text in this new logo was slanted. The period made "Dr." look like "Di:". After some debate, the period was removed for good (it had been used off and on in previous logos), as it would also help remove any medical connotation with the product.

See? No actual medical connotation. Not "Doctor Pepper", it's "Pdrepper".

Also, by rearguing the point, i may have knocked pdrepper back up in the wordle count after Tom relegitimized it.

And speaking of Tom, I pose a challenge to you: while drinking your free Pdrepper, you listen to this:

Let me know if it was worth it.

The Dr Delivers

As I have made a total of 1 posts on this thing, and that post was edited to say absolutely nothing I originally said, I'd like to take this time (of which I am slowly re-installing WoW) to rub my free Pdrepper receipt in Evan's face.

That right there is thanks to countless minutes (actually about 40.. which is as much as four tens.. and that's terrible) of trying to re-submit my information for a $1.50 free Pdrepper. Guess who didn't get this amazing piece of paper? Done guessing? Too bad! EVAN or STEVE!

Also, as I do not have photoshop to simply blur my address, I used my amazing PAINT skills to seemlessly cover it up

Also also, to help out the blog's wordle crisis:

YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT YOU NEED TO EAT

Do we really need to eat that much anymore?

Wordle: You need to eat!

It's obvious that we don't say "You need to eat" enough on this blog, since the dominating word on this word art thinger is "Pdrepper." >_> (Click on it by the way to find a larger version)

It was created by something that takes a lot of words from the front page of a site and in the comments and makes the most frequently used words really big. Prdrepper being the biggest. Only reaffirming Evan's belief that Pdrepper is really spelled like that on the can.

The Soda Saga, Pt 2

The new Mountain Dew logo is just plain stupid. Mainly because it is no longer "Mountain Dew", it is now "Mtn Dew". Apparently nobody told them that the abbreviation for mountain is "Mt." and that "Mtn" with no period is not an abbreviation, but rather a random jumble of letters that sounds like "mitten".

So congrats, Mitten Dew! You have surpassed Pdrepper in stupidest soda name. I would boycott you if you weren't so delicious.

On the flip side: Mad props to "Dr. Shasta" for including a period in your name! You actually earned your degree.

This one goes out to the punctuation fans out there

I just realized that there's no period in "Dr Pepper". So it's not an abbreviation. Therefore it's not pronounced "Doctor Pepper", but rather "Drpepper". Although, with the size of the P, perhaps it's "pdrepper". Who can know?

Anyway, I'm still upset at the folk over at PDrepper for not getting my free PDrepper when Chinese Democracy came out. I failed to submit my stuff both over the internet and over the phone due to the extreme demand. I demand a free soda, or my two hours back.

Anyone reading this at PDrepper, feel free to post either in the comments. I also accept large amounts of cash.
