June Roundup

Tom failed. Matt didn't.

Strangely, I had expected Tom to either continue to not post, or to hold onto that two dollars for dear life and do all 5. 0 posts or 5. He fooled us all by doing 1.

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

Well, there's always next year, right?

Hmm, today appears to be the last day of June. And Tom has posted... once this month. As per Evan's rules it appears that he is about to lose his last $2.

What will happen? Will there be a climactic fight to the death of Tom vs. YNTE, or some sort of other deus ex machina or something?

...probably not. It appears that $50 of Evan's money is going to still be Evan's come New Years.

May Roundup

As of May, we had 77 posts this year, which surpasses last year. I would say with confidence that the blog is very much ALIVE and KICKING ASS.

On top of that, Matt got his posts last month (as well as remembering my birthday). He still has the maximum take of 50 dollars available to him.

Tom did no posts last month, which drops him down to the lowest possible take, 2 dollars. (I'm categorizing zero dollars as no take at all).

The question now, is what will Tom's next move be. To lay over and die as expected? Or to fight through it until the end of the year and hold on to those two dollars?

Only time shall tell.

Enticing Tom to Post

It occured to me that maybe Tom isn't posting because he doesn't feel that what he would contribute would pass the super stringent rules for content. Perhaps he was put off by the "No Malarky" tone we have here.

So, to make Tom feel more welcome, I'm going to add in some malarky to make him feel more at home. If this doesn't get him to post, I don't know what will.

So without any further ado:

March Roundup: It's already April 5th Edition

Am I slow on posting the March Roundup? Yes. Moving on. Graphs!

The determinations from this data:
1) We're still kicking ass this year. Even with a dip in total post count this month, we managed to surpass 2008's total in just 3 months.
2) Evan had kind of a busy month
3) Tom is still failing
4) Delayed explanation poop jokes count as content

Matt's still on track to earn the full 50 bucks. Tom, if he bats a perfect game between here and the end of the year, can hope to earn 20.

Mind = Not Blown

It seems that Tom is into a more literal reverse psychology... from the comments:

"Tom said...
Reverse psychology doesn't work on me. only ygolohcysp esrever does. Therefore I'm content with posting comments -- April 2, 2010 10:11 PM"

Well, in that case, I'll say something in a way he could understand.

Hope that clears some things up.

Prank of the Ages

At first I thought that the best way to have an April Fool's Day prank would be to change the blog layout into something whimsical... but by not having admin rights and by not remembering the login information for the original account, that was a bust.

But then I thought of the best thing. I decided that the best April Fool's Day prank would be to log into Tom's account and make a post for him. But... My plan failed when it came to the login field though, so scratch that...

But wait! It would be even funnier if Tom had posted himself! But it's too late for that. Stevo is still beating him.

Shit wait, it's April 2 now. Too late to do shenanigans. Oh well, happy post-April Fools Day.

February Roundup

I made graphs again!

So, as you can see, this year is going awesome!

This month, most of my posts were frontloaded on the early half the month, which is fine, because Matt forgot to post until the end. Our collective laziness cancelled out!

Here're the official standings:
Matt: 5 posts, 0 penalty, max take: 50 dollars
Tom: 0 posts, 10 dollars penalty, max take: 30 dollars
Evan: 14 posts, I don't earn money, but the resolution is alive!
Steve!: 1 post, bragging rights over Tom

Tom is losing. Not only is he losing money, but he's losing to Steve, who isn't even a participant. If this were a race, what happened is Tom broke his ankle off the blocks and is laying on the track writhing in pain. Then a crazy fan jumped out of the stands and started running down the tracks. Who will win the race? The injured athlete or the non athlete?

I was excited about the YNTE Movie Night, going into this month. Then there were (hold on, let me count them) zero other participants. Maybe it was a slow month, maybe it was a bad idea. We'll see. I still have hopes for this month. Announcement coming soon!

Here's to March!

I think Tom hates money

It's just kinda gonna get wasted away, like the picture above. Except while in reality, it's just another $10 that will be staying in Evan's bank account... oh who're we kidding, it will get spent on a pizza.

Also, in searching for a good picture, I once again question Google's image search. I typed in "angry money" as the search, and could have gotten these as other possible results:

Oh my god Bear is angry. How can this be?

Worse than Far Cry?

So, I didn't get a chance to watch Far Cry this month. (Sorry Evan)

So instead I present to you Internet: The Movie, something that may be equally bad or much, much worse! Or more entertaining, depending on how much alcohol and drugs have been consumed. In any case, aliens are about to teach you how to use Netscape Navigator.

Also, in light of the fact that February is only 28 days, Tom won't be able to get his full amount this month.

Best of Both Worlds

We like YNTE meme, and we like our new adsjfhpiouczvn;alerth meme, and we like comic books. So, it's only obvious that I blend all three of these together. Our two favorite memes in comic book style! Hell, there are even children in here. The only thing it's lacking is a boy with long hairs and/or a bear.

Not to mention that the children in this photo are creepy.

Also, on another topic:

Matt: I'll bet you ten of Tom's Dollars that he didn't post last month
Evan: he sure didn't
Evan: the real question is if he will post at all this year
Matt: I think we should just keep giving him crap until he does
Evan: that's the plan
Evan: if money doesn't motivate him to post, maybe shame will

January Roundup

I made graphs:

The first graph tells us a few things:

1) Matt made his 5 post quota; Tom failed to in the most remarkable way possible. Therefore, Matt's maximum take remains at 50 bucks. Tom's is down to 40. Evan, with his 10 posts now has a maximum take of -90.

2) Matt has 6 posts. This means that I passed his

Last chance for Tom to Post with no penalty!

Tom has until the end of the day to post at least once. Will he make it?

(3 days left in the month, maximum of 2 posts per day, minimum of 5 posts for no penalty)

However, due to my lessening of the penalty from "Miss a post: no money" to "Miss a post: less money", even if he posts nothing this month, he can still earn some greenbacks.

ALSO: One rule clarification:
No matter how few posts you make, you cannot dip below 0 dollars into owing me money. Miss 25 posts? you get nothing. Miss 45 posts, you still get nothing, and owe me nothing. There are no negatives. This isn't a sinister money grab.

I just want more content on the blog. For seriousies!

Shocking Discovery!

So I googled "you need to eat" because I was lacking inspiration, and also seeing how long it took for YNTE to show up. So I scrolled down the first page and...

...Wait what? Stevo, who usually posts even less than Tom (but this month they're neck and neck at zero apiece) appeared, linking him to one of the more recent posts made by me.

I'm surprised that Evan isn't up there first. Who'da thunk it? In conclusion, Stevo is somehow the king of YNTE.

The Gauntlet: The rules

I said I would post these much earlier in the month, but didn't. So I'm posting them now. Apologies to anybody reading this that isn't Matt or Tom, as this may come off as a bit boring.

In accordance with the stated goal of making 2010 the year of our blog, Tom and Matt will each be offered 50 US Dollars if they can make a minimum of 5 blog posts a month that conform to the following standards:

1) Blog posts must have content. As a bizarre humor blog which at times has a large emphasis on pictures or linking to other sites, the bar for "content" is very low. If a good faith effort is put forth to make a post, I'll almost certainly pass it. However, posts where the content is "adsjfhpiouczvn;alerth" will not count. However, as I said, I'm incredibly lax, so as long as you're not trying to post gibberish to take my money, you should be fine.

2) Blog posts should be (somewhat) spread out throughout the month. I don't want the last day of the month to have 5 "oh crap" posts. Likewise, I don't want 5 posts on day 1 and the rest of the month nothing. Idealy there would be a somewhat steady stream of content coming out of here. But seeing as nobody is perfect, here's the rule: No more than 2 posts a day will count toward the required 5 for the month. You can post more than 2 per day if you want, go right ahead, but only two of them will count as part of the 5 for the month.

3) Be funny. I know a lot of the stuff we put here would not be considered funny by a great many people. That's not the point of this rule. Basically, YNTE is not your emo journal. People come here to be entertained, so keep it entertaining. It doesn't have to universally be the funniest thing in the world, but nobody wants to hear about you cutting yourself because Edward Cullen won't be your vampire lover. Should you desire, you can totally have a livejournal elsewhere with said content, and I have no problem with that. Just keep it off here.

4) Be cool. I'm sure there are other ways you could game the system to take my money without contributing anything useful to the blog. Don't.

Keep in mind that those are more guidelines than rules. I will give you the benefit of the doubt the vast majority of the time. Every single post already on the site, no matter how nonsensical or short lives up to these incredibly loose standards.

However, in the event that there is a dispute over whether any of these rules have been broken, they will be run past the impartial YNTE Rule Czar, which is a position I just made up. The rule Czar's ruling will be final. For 2010, the YNTE Rule Czar will be Rena McNeal. Congrats! You will probably never have to use your vast power, but now you have a cool title.

(and to anybody who says, "she's your sister, she's not truly impartial", a) she's fair, and b) screw you, it's my money on the table)

To recieve the maximum of 50 dollars, you must create 5 posts that adhere to the above rules. If you post less than 5, your initial 50 dollars will be docked 2 dollars for every missed post. For example, if Tom only posts 1 time this month, he is short 4 posts. 4 posts short times 2 dollars = 8 dollar penalty, and the maximum Tom can earn is now 42 dollars. (42!)

Even if you miss a month entirely, you can still earn some money, so keep posting.

As the instigator of the gauntlet, I reserve the right to update/modify these rules at any time, presuming I don't do this for the purpose of being a dick and screwing you out of your hard earned money. Which I won't do, because I really want the blog to succeed.

Phew! that was a lot. Resume your day!

Classic YNTE to Brighten Your Monday Morning

Man, haven't made one of these for like a year.

Also I think Tom is gonna lose.
